OGDENSBURG -- The Greater Ogdensburg Chamber of Commerce is recruiting new members to its organization.

Benefits of membership include:

• Access to health care for petite to large businesses

• 2018 Membership Plaque to display in a member business

• Participation in the Chambers Dollars program – “shop local” campaign

• Access to the chamber’s Bulk Rate Mail permit (savings of 50% per mailing)

• Business listing on the chamber website

• Links member website/Facebook pages from the chamber website

• Advertisement in chamber publications

• Referrals of a member business from personal visits, phone, email or fax inquiries

• Display of business brochures/business cards/flyers in the chamber office

• Access to the chamber’s mailing list to increase your business contacts/marketing strategies

• Representation at trade shows and expos

• Sponsorship opportunities for chamber events or publications to increase marketing

• Weekly E-blasts to chamber members – highlighting specials/discounts/events

• Invitation to the annual chamber dinner honoring Citizen of the Year; Business Improvement and Outstanding Community Service awards

Chamber memberships run from Jan. 1 to Dec. 31. Dues are based upon the number of employees in an organization or business.

The Chamber’s time and efforts are equally shared between business advocacy, enhancing community spirit and promoting tourism and the City of Ogdensburg, said a press release from the organization.

The Chamber attends seminars and trade shows promoting tourism and business re-location to Ogdensburg. The Chamber office stocks and distributes brochures from attractions throughout New York State and Canada.

There are two membership classes for interested businesses:

• Associate and Family Memberships –$20 and $30 respectively, with a discount of 10 percent in the chamber store, The Crescent; free admission for chamber events and business listed in the on-line membership directory on the chamber website.

• Vendor Membership – provides a different kind of membership to all loyal vendors who attend chamber events for $30 per year; includes “Members First” invitations to chamber annual events with a discounted vendor fee; free beverages at events; assistance with unloading/loading at events (when available); listing on the Chamber website; display of brochures/business cards in the chamber office and access to weekly member e-blasts.

Signature chamber events where individuals can market include the Polar Bear Plunge, North Country Wine and Food Festival, Community Wide Garage Sales, Car-B-Que, NYS BASS Tournament, Ogtoberfest, Annual Dinner and the Thanksgiving Craft Show. Attendance at these events is typically between 500 to 1500 visitors. The Chamber also participates and promotes other events such as EXPO, Founder’s Day Weekend, Seaway Festival, Remington Art Museum events, Ogdensburg Public Library events/programs and Light up the Night Parade.
