GOUVERNEUR -- A Colton man was jailed on numerous charges after walking out of Kinney Drugs, 17 Clinton St., with a cart containing $149.67 worth of merchandise April 16, according to Gouverneur police.
Derrick A. Erwin, 41, was charged at 3:34 p.m. with petit larceny and second-degree aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle.
He allegedly stole beer, food and toiletries.
Erwin was reportedly further charged with an additional count of petit larceny as he was a suspect in another shoplifting incident at the same store April 11. He is alleged to have left the store with $97.23 worth of merchandise and failed to render payment.
He was also found to be wanted by the St. Lawrence County Sheriff’s Department on three active St. Lawrence County Family Court arrest warrants, officers said.
Erwin was arraigned before Gouverneur Town Justice Young and remanded to St. Lawrence County Correctional Facility in lieu of $5,500 cash bail.
