DEKALB JUNCTION – The Country Cabin Gift Shop on Co. Rt. 15 officially closed its doors Saturday after nine years of selling country primitive giftwear, according to owner Gloria Trombley.
She said she was forced to close the shop because an ongoing serious illness was causing her to cut back business hours.
“It’s been successful. It’s gotten better every year,” Trombley said. “It’s a good business for the area because there isn’t anything like my shop around. We offered more than other shops do.”
Trombley has already sold off most of the inventory and listed the building for sale last week.
“I’ve already had some inquiries,” she said.
Trombley originally opened the business in her home nine years ago, but after three years, she built a cabin and moved the shop in.
Since then, she said the shop has drawn customers from all over the county, as well as Watertown and Syracuse.
She said people loved the cabin feel of the shop.
“It was your retreat,” she said. “The atmosphere looks so cozy and homey.”
