POTSDAM -- Foxy Roxy’s Diner, 124 Market St., has been named Potsdam Chamber of Commerce Business of the Year for 2011.
The Chamber gives the award every year to a local business. Roxanne and Lynn Smith, owners of the Foxy Roxy’s, will accept the award at the Chamber’s annual spring luncheon Wednesday May 11 at the Potsdam Town and Country Club.
“When I notified Roxanne about being named the chamber’s Business of the Year, she gave a joyous shout and did a nice little celebratory dance right there in the kitchen,” Chamber Executive Director Marylee Ballou said.
“This award is extremely gratifying to me personally to be recognized for the 80-100 hour work weeks I put in to improve our appearance, quality of product, customer relations and place in the community,” said Roxanne Smith.
The Smiths opened as Foxy Roxy's in May of 2008 after buying the restaurant from the owner of Caroline's Diner. They did interior and exterior renovations since then and in October 2010 were named a Pride in Potsdam business.
The Smiths are big supporters of hockey, school activities and Kiwanis club events, among many other community activities.
