POTSDAM – The Five Guys burger restaurant to open in the former Stewart’s store site at 75 Market St. will not use the Stewart’s store building as first planned.
The developer’s company, Hada Potsdam, LLC, will instead take the existing building down to the foundation and build up from there, using the same footprint, according to Potsdam Planning Board Chairman Jim Corbett.
“They will demolish the building and use the same foundation,” he said.
The developer’s local representative, Jim Thew of Thew Associates in Canton, has said they hope to have final drawings approved by July 1 so work can begin to get the restaurant open by Sept. 1 to draw customers from among the returning students.
