POTSDAM – Heather Patten, Emergency Department Ward Clerk at CPH, has been named the Hospital’s Employee of the Year for 2011.

She was selected from 12 employees who all received Employee of the Month honors during the year.

Patten joined Canton-Potsdam Hospital’s Emergency team in 2005, but is an instrumental part in the daily operations of a multitude of departments from Registration to Phlebotomy.

Patten played an active role in the implementation of MedHost, electronic medical records, which went live in June, 2011. She took the initiative to become a super user and applied her education to training others.

“Heather’s role in the emergency department is critical to the success of providing emergent care. The level of excellence at which she performs and the passion that she puts into her work are nothing short of 110%,” said David Acker, President and CEO. “Heather treats her patients with the utmost respect and compassion. She is keenly aware of our internal processes and talks with patients and visitors about what they can expect while receiving care here. She is well-respected by our medical staff and is a true role model for others to emulate."

Her colleagues noted Patten’s commitment to excellence, dedication, and willingness to help others and remarked that her calm and patient nature has been a welcome source of comfort to anxious children and nervous parents alike.

Patten was honored with the award at the Hospital’s Annual Mid-Winter Party where she celebrated with more than 300 peers, colleagues, and family.
