Customizable shoe launches with help from Clarkson's Shipley Center in Potsdam

POTSDAM -- Clarkson University Alumnus Dami Adepoju ’13 has launched Fini Shoes, a customizable shoe product that offers comfort and durability without forgoing a luxury aesthetic, with the help of Clarkson’s Shipley Center for Innovation.

“Although I graduated in 2013, the Shipley center assisted me every step of the way in making sure I became successful and launching the company this year,” Adepoju said. “They believed in me and nurtured me all the way.”

The goal of Fini Shoes is to reinvent the footwear space. They’re doing that through a unique, never-before-seen customization element. The shoe allows the wearer to add multiple add-ons through a seamless and minimal zipper concept so the wearer has the ability to switch out part of their shoe and turn it into a completely new shoe.

It can be worn in a variety of ways and can adapt to any environment depending on the shoe accessories available.

Originally from Abuja, Nigeria, Adepoju runs his business out of New York, New York. He is working to complete his master’s degree and has set his sights on making Fini Shoes a global success.

Adepoju said the unique community Clarkson offers is critical to the founding and success of his company.

“The faculty, staff, and students are a family who comes together to help and support you in every way possible,” Adepoju says. “The Potsdam community is welcoming and fosters growth, making it the perfect environment to develop as a person and truly learn.”
