POTSDAM – Significant progress on the Potsdam Hampton Inn is evident as the third floor is going up and roof trusses are about to be put into place.
Chuck Gaetano of Visions Hotels, the Corning development company building the new hotel, said their hoped-for July completion date had been pushed back by the ice, snow and cold of last winter, but that the tent they put up over the site which allowed them to heat the ground and get some foundation work done in February has recovered about a month in the schedule.
The roof and windows to seal up the building should be in place in “about June,” Gaetano said.
Gaetano says the job should be done by late August or early September.
Between 35 and 40 subcontractors are working
The three-story, 95-room, $6 or $7 million hotel sits on a 3.44 acre site at 167 Market St., just south of McDonald’s.
It will be the first national-chain hotel in Potsdam.
