GOUVERNEUR – Several businesses in Gouverneur will be visited today by Republican congressional candidate Elise Stefanik.
Stefankik of Willsoboro will visit Lacy Real Estate, 176 West Main St. for a meet and greet from 9 to 9:45 a.m. followed by a tour of Riverside Ironworks, 26 Water St., from 9:45 to 10:15 a.m.
From there she will visit Cives Steel headquarters, Northern Division 8 Church St.. at 10:30 a.m., Cives Steel Plant, 40 Factory St., from noon to 12:30 and the Clear Water Paper Company, 4921 New York Highway 58 from 3 to 4 p.m.
Stefanik won the Republican 21st Congressional primary by a wide margin June 24 against Matt Doheny. In St. Lawrence County, Stefanik beat Doheny 1,935-1,593.
She will go on to face Aaron Wolf in the November elections seeking Democrat Bill Owens’s seat because Owens is not seeking reelection.
