CP of the North Country and Community Health Center of the North Country recently hired Ray Babowicz as director of marketing and communications.
He joins the team after spending almost 30 years working in media, both in traditional radio and television mediums as well as digital and social platforms.
Most recently he worked as operations director for Community Broadcaster’s group of stations in Ogdensburg, and also was morning show host on 95.3 The Wolf as Ray Knight.
“For many years I have strived to find a home where I can utilize my experience with an organization where I felt I could leave a long-lasting legacy. The work our team does here for North Country families is truly amazing, and I am honored to take on the challenge of making sure everyone knows how wonderful the services and employees at both CP and CHCNC are,” Babowicz said.
Ray earned his Bachelor of Science degree in telecommunications management from Syracuse University and holds certifications as a private pilot and phlebotomist.
During his career, he and his wife Barbara have spent time in various places across the country from Washington D.C. to Alaska, but jumped at the opportunity to come back to New York three years ago.
According to Ray, “It’s always nice to have the opportunity to come back and help strengthen the communities in which you grew up in. I look forward to building on the existing relationships we already have, and forging new ones across the entire area that CP and CHCNC serves. ”
CP of the North Country serves people with developmental disabilities across St. Lawrence, Jefferson and Franklin counties. The agency also operates Community Health Center of the North Country, a federally qualified health center that is available to all residents across the communities of Northern New York regardless of income level, with locations in Canton and Gouverneur.
“We may be one of the best kept secrets in the North Country right now; I look forward to changing that” he said.
Ray can be reached at 386-1156, babowicz@cpnorthcountry.org or via Cerebral Palsy Association of the North Country on Facebook.
