The Joint Apprenticeship and Training Committee for Boilermakers Northeast Area, Local Union #175, will recruit for five boilermaker (construction) apprentices from April 7 through March 1, 2016, the New York State Department of Labor said.
The openings represent the total number for five recruitment regions, including St. Lawrence County.
People interested in applying need to go to Local Union #175, 28 West Bridge St., Oswego, from 9 a.m. to noon on the first Tuesday of each month, excluding legal holidays. If the first Tuesday of the month is a holiday, applications will be available on the first Wednesday of the month during the same hours
Applicants must:
• be at least 18 years old
• have a high school diploma or a high school equivalency diploma (such as TASC or GED)
• attend related instruction classes
• attest that they are physically able to perform the work of a boilermaker (construction), which may include working in confined spaces, from heights, in nuclear facilities or in hazardous conditions.
• have reliable transportation to and from work and related instruction classes
• pass a drug test, at the expense of the sponsor, after selection and prior to indenture.
