Staff from Clarkson University and Canton-Potsdam Hospital raised more than $1,000 with a charity hockey game to help fund educational initiatives at Potsdam Central School.

POTSDAM -- Clarkson University and Canton-Potsdam Hospital faculty and staff raised $1,163 for the Potsdam Educational Opportunities Fund at a recent charity hockey game.

About 150 fans gathered in Cheel Arena on Feb. 22 to watch a team of Clarkson faculty and staff face off against a team of CPH staff. Some members of the Clarkson pep band were also in attendance to cheer on the teams.

Fans in the stands saw an exciting and evenly matched game. CPH came back from a 3-2 deficit in the third period, scoring two unanswered goals to take a 4-3 lead. Clarkson rallied on a shorthanded goal with 34 seconds left in regulation to tie the game.

The game remained tied after overtime, and CPH scored the winning goal against Clarkson in a sudden death shoot-out.
