CANTON -- The village is having Canton Holiday Shopping Weekend today through Sunday, promoting what local businesses have to offer the holiday shopper.
The promotion involves several special offers and a gift certificate giveaway with $660 in prizes to be given out weekly through Dec. 19, when two people each will be chosen to receive $120 gift certificates.
Many businesses will have open houses, drawings, discounts, refreshments, and other “goodies,” according to Canton Chamber of Commerce Executive Director Sally Hill.
Coakley Carpet One Ace Hardware on Outer West Main hosts a different event Friday night, a “PJ Party.” Discounts on merchandise will go up as the night progresses, and anyone showing in pajamas will get an extra 10 percent off. Andy Vanduyne will entertain.
“We decided with Small Business Saturday last week, and so many people going to big-box stores, that we would have our own Canton Holiday Shopping Weekend,” Hill said.
“We have to support the community. It’s investing in your own life, really.
“Sometimes people have never been in a local store, and they should pop in and explore. I think they wil be surprised at some of the things they’ll find,” Hill said.
