CANTON -- North Country Neighbors Too will soon close nearly two and half years after opening in downtown after being forced to leave the building after the space was sold to a new owner.

The flea market, which operated at 21 Miner St., is owned by Tim and Cathy Connolly.

“It is with a heavy heart that Tim & I are forced to leave our store in Canton,” a statement on the North Country Neighbors Too Facebook page said to their customers.

The store will close permanently Sept. 12.

The Connolly’s said were renting the building that has now been sold to a Canton businessperson who plans to use the space for their own needs.

“We’ve enjoyed our two years in Canton. The store was doing well. Sales were strong, and our growing customer base enjoyed what we contributed to the community. Unfortunately, all good things must eventually come to an end and one never really knows when that end will come. There is no other space in Canton large enough – or suitable enough – for what we do. Sadly the decision was made to cease operations rather than move,” the statement said.

North Country Neighbors Too opened in the spring of 2013 giving local vendors a space to set up booths to sell a variety of items including vintage items, antiques, and flea market finds including fashions, books and media, jewelry, costumes, furniture, housewares, decor, and more.

Their Potsdam location, 6 Main St., will not be affected by the Canton closure.
