CANTON -- The U.S. Small Business Administration has selected Hailey Hodge, owner of Luna Boutique, 18 Park St., as the Syracuse district winner of their 2018 Young Entrepreneur of the Year Award.

Nominated by the Canton Small Business Development Center, Hodge was chosen for the award based on her company’s growth in sales, superior customer service, and passion for her community, the announcement said.

At the age of 22, Hodge launched the women’s clothing boutique in Canton, her hometown, in fall 2014.

Hodge was inspired to start her own business after attending Drexel University, where she majored in design and merchandising, and completing a design internship with Oscar de la Renta, according to a press release from the SBA.

“With business plan assistance and continued counseling from the Canton SBDC, Hodge found startup success that has made her on-trend clothing store a go-to fashion source for women in St. Lawrence County and beyond,” the announcement said.

Luna Boutique has customers in the U.S., Australia, Thailand and the United Kingdom and elsewhere, including personal shopping through Instagram messaging and mobile payment apps, according to SBA.

Hodge sells women’s clothing, lingerie, footwear and accessories at her storefront on Park Street and at seasonal pop-up stores, by mail-order subscription service, and in her online boutique.
