The state’s economic development agency has announced that a former aide to North Country congressman Bill Owens has been tapped to run the region’s economic development council.
Stephen Hunt will serve as Empire State Development’s executive director for the North Country.
Hunt, who previously served as deputy chief of staff for Owens, will oversee the North Country regional office. Hunt will work under ESD President, CEO and Commissioner Kenneth Adams, managing daily operations of both North Country offices, in Plattsburgh and Watertown, promoting economic development in the region.
In addition, Hunt will be executive director of the North Country Regional Economic Development Council (NCREDC), where he will assist in coordinating the council’s activities and implementing the council’s plans.
