Preliminary employment data from the state Department of Labor indicates that there were 2.5 percent more non-farm jobs in St. Lawrence County in June than there were in June 2013.
The figures, adapted from U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics data, show the total number of non-farm jobs grew by 1,000 from 39,700 in June 2013 to 40,700 this June.
The unemployment rate in New York outside of New York City averaged 5.6 percent in June, compared with 5.7 percent in May and 7.0 percent in June 2013.
More data, including county unemployment figures, are due to be released next week.
The state DOL notes that the figures have not been adjusted for possible seasonal variations, and are subject to change.
