POTSDAM – The Potsdam Chamber of Commerce Town/Gown Committee is pleased to announce two more Pride in Potsdam Award Nominees: 1844 House (July) and Wally Siebel/Alex Vangellow/Total Image (August).

The Pride-In-Potsdam program is designed to encourage merchants and land/building owners in the Village and Town to maintain and improve their properties.

1844 House, 6885 US Hwy 11, was recognized for how the property is maintained and for their support of locally grown products.

They use locally grown produce and meats in their menu and opened a food stand in the nearby converted garage.

The restaurant was opened in February 2006 by husband and wife Brian and Jenny Walker.

The building located at 29 Main Street, home for 19 years to Total Image, is owned in partnership between Wally Siebel and Alex Vangellow. This full service salon is owned by Lisa Cary.

“The committee wanted to recognize the commitment of these building owners to improve the property which in turns helps the tenant business’ presentation to the community,” stated Potsdam Chamber Executive Director, Marylee Ballou.

“We couldn’t have done it without help from Everett Scanlon, Ramsey Locke, and Joel Stiles.” said co-owner Wally Siebel.

These nominees now joins the following eight other monthly nominees: The Lobster House, The Clarkson Inn, Hazen Enterprises (Maxfield’s), Misty Hollow, Little Italy, Eben’s Hearth, TJ Toyota, and Sergi’s.

Two more businesses will be nominated, and then one of these nominees will receive the 2011 Pride in Potsdam Award at the chamber’s annual dinner in early November.

Should you feel a business is particularly worthy of recognition please feel free to contact the Chamber Office, 274-9000, with the business name.
