Northern Power & Light Hydro installs EV chargers at Potsdam apartment complexes

POTSDAM -- The Meadow East and Swan Landing Apartment Communities in Potsdam have installed 24, level 2, electric vehicle charging stations in its five parking lots easily accessible off of Leroy, May, and Swan streets.

The EV Passport charging stations are available for tenants, village residents, and visitors to Potsdam.

The stations are compatible with all makes of electric vehicles, and a simple swipe of a credit card makes the juice flow, Northern Power & Light said in a press release.

Meadow East and Swan Landing developer and owner, Bryan Wolofsky, signed Meadow East up with Northern Power & Light in 2021 to meet his company’s energy goals.

“To date, Northern Power & Light has provided 100% of Meadow East’s electricity, and that now includes 10 charging stations that can accommodate two vehicles each,” said Emmett Smith, CEO of Northern Power & Light.

“Meadow East was an early adopter of local, renewable hydropower," Wolofsky said. "Meadow East has benefited from the choice to go with locally produced hydro, and we’re proud to be helping to sustain this valuable community-based power generation provider. The EV Passport charging stations were easy to install and are marked on all commonly used direction and mapping programs for folks traveling.”

The project was facilitated by Apex Solar and made possible through grants from National Grid and NYSERDA.
