CANTON — Visit The TAUNY Center for the opening reception of the Akhwatsi:re “My Family” exhibition, curated by Sharon H J Cheng, on May 4 from 11 a.m.-12 p.m.
The exhibit is open from May 4-June 22.
The reception will feature singing & small bead work demonstration and Q&A with the audience.
"Akhwatsi:re (My Family) is a visual representation of the love and gratitude I have for my family. The respect for all my family who have taught me important artist skills, allowing me to carry on my mohawk traditional art and contemporary designs,” said Marlana Thompson Baker.
"My Family" Akwesasne Beadmaking & Regalia workshops will be held Saturday, May 18 and June 15, from 11 a.m.-1 p.m. Multigenerations welcome.
