EDWARDS — The Atkinson Family Bluegrass Band will perform for the TAUNY Cabin Fever Concert Series Friday, May 10 from 7-9 p.m. at the Edwards Opera House, 161 Main St.
The Atkinsons, a traditional bluegrass band with a unique family vocal dynamic, bring a high-energy stage show and a mountain sound from the Adirondack foothills.
Led by banjo player Dick Atkinson, the band's leader, the group's sound combines bluegrass, Americana, and original material.
Shelene Atkinson on vocals and rhythm guitar, Liza Atkinson on vocals and guitar, Raven Winters on mandolin and Sara Atkinson on bass and vocals contribute to the band's rich sound, while the well-known North Country fiddler Don Woodcock will join the group as a special guest, adding his tasteful and inventive fiddle playing.
The Atkinsons released their fifth studio recording, Jayville Station, in June 2018 with original material, and songs not traditional to the bluegrass genre, but which find a unique sound from the Atkinson Family.
